Big tech firms have been integrating AI tools into their software offerings, enabling users to manipulate images and videos with generative AI. In response to this trend, there is a new wave of companion policies being launched to better inform people when this technology has been applied to content. Google has joined this movement, following the release of tools like the Magic Editor last spring and incorporating AI into its video editor last month. Now, Google Photos will start labeling visual content that has been modified with AI, providing plain language statements alongside edited photos. In a recent blog post, Google shared an example where AI Info credits the AI tool used to adapt the image, distinguishing between images modified with generative AI and those created without it. This new language will be implemented in Google Photos next week.
